Microsoft 'Patent Tracker' Puts IP Info Online

Microsoft has launched an online tool that allows anyone to search for and view all its patents. General counsel Brad Smith said Microsoft is introducing the "Patent Tracker" as a way to create greater transparency in the U.S. patent system. The company is also hoping that making patent holdings easily searchable will curb the activities of non-practicing entities or "patent trolls."
