A.G. Defends Settlement With Feeder Funds From Madoff Trustee

Lawyers for New York's attorney general and the trustee overseeing the liquidation of Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme will square off in federal court today over the AG's $410 million settlement with Ezra Merkin and the funds he managed that invested with Madoff. Trustee Irving Picard claims the settlement properly belongs to the Madoff bankruptcy estate and should be available for distribution to all creditors.
