The restaurant group BUCA has settled malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims it brought against Faegre Baker Daniels, Bill Skolnick, the plaintiff’s attorney, told Minnesota Lawyer. The settlement is confidential but details of the suit are available in a story Minnesota Lawyer earlier published. The complaint said that BUCA lost about $3 million because, allegedly, it got stuck with a bunch of leases in a restaurant sale. It also asked for disgorgement of about $3.2 million in attorney fees.
The case settled in mediation. It was set for trial Monday in front of Judge Susan Burke
